Reducing Single-Use Items

At La Mare Wine Estate, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Reducing single-use items is a key part of our environmental responsibility.

Our Commitment

We’re proud to share both our targets and achievements so that our visitors, clients, and partners can see the steps we’re taking to minimise waste.

Our Achievements

Reusable Glassware
All wine tastings use glasses that are washed and reused for every tour.

China & Stainless Steel
Food and drinks are served on reusable crockery and cutlery, eliminating disposable alternatives.

Biodegradable Carrier Bags
Customers can purchase sugarcane biodegradable bags for any purchase.

Filtered Water Stations
The Quettle system provides clean filtered water for staff and guests, removing the need for bottled water. We offer refills to all guests in the Vineyard Cafe.

Condiments & Dispensers
Ramekins and dispensers replace single-use sachets in our Vineyard Café.

Paper Straws
Fully compostable paper straws are used throughout the Estate.

Sustainable Printing
All printed materials use recycled FSC paper

.Reusing Packaging
Delivery boxes are stored and reused wherever possible.

Our Targets

  • Eliminate unnecessary single-use plastics across all experiences and events.

  • Update hamper packaging with sustainable alternatives, avoiding cellophane wherever possible.

  • Review all product packaging and establish eco-friendly alternatives.

  • Provide ongoing staff training and visitor guidance to encourage the use of reduced single-use items.

We regularly monitor our progress to ensure these targets are achieved and updated.

How You Can Help

We encourage visitors and delegates to support our sustainability goals:

  • Bring your own cups and take advantage of our Quettle filtered water. Just ask at the Vineyard Cafe.

  • Opt for reusable crockery and cutlery where possible during events.

  • Read our Responsible Visitor Charter
  • Read our tips for hosting a Green Meeting and Event.

Together, these small actions make a big difference for the environment.
