A Great Taste Award for Our Black Butter: A Proud Moment for Jersey
We’re thrilled to share that our beloved Jersey Black Butter has been awarded a Great Taste Award—and we couldn’t be prouder. It’s a true honour to have one of our most iconic products recognised on a national stage, and even more special to know it helps shine a light on the rich food heritage of our island home.
For us, Black Butter is more than a preserve—it’s a part of Jersey’s identity. We make it right here on the estate using our own Branchage cider, which is crafted from traditional Jersey apples grown in our orchards. Slow-cooked with local apples, cider, sugar, lemons, and a warming blend of spices, it’s steeped in tradition and made with deep respect for time-honoured methods.
The Great Taste Awards are known for their rigorous judging process. There are no labels, no branding—just honest, blind tastings by panels of food experts. That’s why this recognition means so much to us. It’s not about the story on the jar, it’s about the story in the flavour.
Receiving this award gives our whole team a huge boost. It reassures us—and our customers—that we’re getting it right. More than that, it helps raise the profile of Jersey produce across the UK and beyond.
We’ve always believed in doing things properly, and in celebrating what makes Jersey so special. While Brexit has made international shipping more complex, our focus remains on sharing a little piece of the island further afield. Black Butter is now available on Amazon, making it easier than ever for people across the UK to enjoy a taste of Jersey.
