Sustainable Meeting Tips

At La Mare Wine Estate, we are committed to making a positive environmental impact and contributing to a sustainable future, delivering events that combine exceptional hospitality with respect for the planet. We carefully manage our environmental aspects and impacts, embedding sustainability across all our activities and operations.

We want to help you consider sustainable meeting practices and host greener events within our venue. Here are a few tips for you and your delegates to consider and implement:

Go Paperless

  • Keep emails, contracts, invoices, and proposals digital.
  • Use Microsoft Office online registration forms instead of printed invitations.

  • Consider digital seating plans and event signage rather than paper versions.

  • Opt for reusable or sustainable name badges (e.g., corn starch alternatives) to reduce plastic use.

Choose Green Transport and Travel

  • The bus stop is located just outside the Estate, with the No. 5 bus offering a direct service from St Helier town centre.
  • Delegates are encouraged to use Jersey’s public bus network, car-share, or cycle to the Estate.

  • Evie electric shared cars are also available from the Estate.

  • On-site parking is available, with car-sharing encouraged to reduce emissions.

  • Guests staying locally can minimise travel by choosing one of our nearby partner hotels.

  • Once here, visitors can explore our vineyards, orchards, and meadow walks, or take short trips to nearby attractions such as Devil’s Hole and the historic Priory Inn.

Recycle & Reuse

  • Reusable glassware, crockery, and cutlery are standard for all meetings and events.
  • Single-use plastics are minimised, and where alternatives are necessary, we use plant-based, compostable materials.
  • If you bring conference materials, we encourage you to choose items that can be recycled or repurposed.
  • We offer a whiteboard which can be used instead of a flip chart.
  • We offer recycled paper.

Sustainable Food & Drink Choices

  • Menus are designed around the seasons, showcasing estate-grown grapes and organic apples alongside the very best of Jersey produce.
  • We use free-range eggs, Jersey cream, milk, and butter, Jersey Royals, Jersey beef, Jersey Lobster and Jersey Crab.
  • Fairtrade products are included across our offering.
  • We provide filtered water for all delegates. Guests are also welcome to request water bottle refills from our café team.
  • Estate-made wines, ciders, and apple spirits are produced on-site, reducing food miles and supporting sustainable, island-based production.

La Mare Wine Estate is proud to hold Soil Association Organic Certification, LEAF Marque, Red Tractor, and Green Tourism Gold accreditation. These achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability, ensuring every meeting or event is both memorable and environmentally responsible.
