La Mare Wine Estate and Distillery is a unique venue situated in the beautiful Jersey countryside, comprising a working estate of vineyards, orchards and beautiful grounds. Established in 1972, La Mare has grown from a small vineyard into a busy tourism attraction, wedding and corporate venue as well as producing a range of local products. Set in the peaceful grounds of a traditional 18th century granite farmhouse, La Mare Wine Estate is a working 25 acre domain, committed to creating the very best wines, ciders and spirits, along with hand-made preserves, fudge, chocolates and Jersey Black Butter, produced within the Genuine Jersey range.
The estate itself is a fascinating combination of history and tradition. Comprising of historic buildings and beautiful gardens; 6 acres of vineyards and 9 acres of orchards; function rooms, a winery, distillery and estate kitchens which produce genuine jersey produce. The Estate offers the highest quality Weddings, Corporate Events, Tours and Tastings and produces a range of delicious products all made on the Estate. In addition to the main Estate, the company also has two retail outlets situated in King Street, and a joint venture with Jersey Pottery at the Airport selling products from the Estate range.
1. Job Purpose: The Role
The role of the Winery and Cellar Assistant is to help with ensuring quality, wine, cider and spirit production through the efficient execution of cellar operations under the direction of the Winemaker/Production Manager. Assisting the Warehouse manager at peak times. Also to include assisting outside vineyard, grounds, orchard operations Under the direction of the Vineyard Manager. The occasion may arise where demands of the business require involvement in the set up and take down of events, both in house and off site.
Active involvement in assisting the execution of cellar, winery and distillery operations.

2. Responsibilities – Accountabilities
2.2 Assisting and Performing vintage related tasks.
2.3 Assisting with Grape and apple pressing and crushing.
2.4 Aid in the production and packaging of Gin, Brandy, Vodka, Fruit/cream liqueurs.
2.5 Aid in the production of sparkling wines and ciders.
2.6 Bottling line preparation, cleaning , sterilisation and maintenance.
2.7 Barrel operations, both wine and spirits.
2.8 Maintain general winery upkeep and cleanliness.
2.9 Maintain cellar hygiene to a high standard.
2.10 Undertake careful use of equipment, report damage and faults as required.
2.11 Assist with stock takes and data entry.
2.12 Assist with creating a positive workplace environment, foster teamwork, trust and collaboration.
2.13 Follow company health and safety policy, Identify hazards and actions to eliminate.
2.14 Apply company policy on sustainability in all activities and endeavour to reduce, reuse and recycle resources.
