La Mare Wine Estate and Distillery is a unique venue situated in the peaceful grounds of a traditional 18th century granite farmhouse, nestled in the beautiful Jersey countryside, comprising a working estate of vineyards, orchards and beautiful grounds. Established in 1972, La Mare has grown from a small vineyard into a busy tourism attraction, wedding and corporate venue as well as producing a range of hand made products using local ingredients.
The Estate itself is a fascinating combination of history and tradition. Comprising of historic buildings and beautiful gardens; extensive vineyards and orchards; function rooms, a winery, distillery and estate kitchens which produce genuine jersey produce. The Estate offers the highest quality Weddings, Corporate Events, Tours and Tastings and creates a range of delicious products all made on the Estate. In addition to the main Estate, the company also has two retail outlets situated in King Street, and the Airport selling products from the Estate range.
Job Purpose: The Role
This role involves supporting the Management Team to deliver long term sales targets and profitability through effective management of the La Mare tourism attraction and retail areas (including the cafe when needed). The aim of the Visitor Host is to deliver the best possible shopping, tourism and event experience.

Responsibilities – Accountabilities
3.1 Develop attuned customer service standards along with the Management Team through strong rapport with potential and onsite customers, identifying customer needs and setting up methods to assess and improve customer service continuously. Working with the rest of the tourism & retail teams to empower them to focus on customers and their needs.
3.2 Maintaining adequate stocks and remerchandising within the retail and tourism areas.
3.3 Ensure staff adhere to the Health and Safety policy.
3.5 Support the needs of the business by arranging cover for other areas of the Estate as and when required.
3.5 Maintain control of cash management.
3.6 Ensure a presence Front of House as the face of customer service for La Mare on site. This will include professional and swift resolution to any customer complaint issues that arise.
3.7 Delivery and management of the Estate Visitor Experience, including promoting the brands, ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing opportunities to involve the customer in all the Estate has to offer.

4.1 Proven experience in a retail, tourism or catering environment.

Excellent time management and customer service skills are a must together with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing.
