Set in the peaceful grounds of a traditional 18th century granite farmhouse, La Mare Wine Estate is a working 25 acre domain, committed to creating the very best wines, ciders and spirits, along with hand-made preserves and chocolates. The first vines were planted on the Estate in 1972. Since then, La Mare has been lovingly developed and 17,000 vines, four white and three red grape varieties with the majority being Pinot Noir, produce over 40,000 bottles of Estate wine a year, including a portfolio of award-winning sparkling wines made traditionally (Méthode Champenoise) and a range of still white, pink and red wines.
Orchard & Distilling
Jersey history and its close connections with France have meant there has always been a keen interest in cider making on the Island and alongside the vineyard are the estate’s apple orchards, with six cider apple varieties. These are used to produce a méthode traditionelle sparkling cider called ‘Pompette’, a premium table cider ‘Branchage’. However, over 90% of La Mare’s cider is double distilled in a Cognac Brandy pot still and aged in French and American oak casks to become Jersey Apple Brandy. The Estate also produces Jersey Cream Liqueur which is made from a blend of the oak aged Jersey Apple Brandy and the finest Jersey Cream from the Island Herd.

The Jersey Farmhouse Provisions Range
La Mare Estate produces a range of ‘Genuine Jersey’ preserves and mustards. Using old family recipes from the last century La Mare has now built up the widest and best known range of locally produced preserves on the Island. Favourites include Black Butter, Whisky Marmalade, Summer Fruits Jam, Cider & Chilli Jam and Wine Mustard.
Fudge
Jersey Apple Brandy Fudge, Jersey Cream Fudge, and Jersey Black Butter Fudge are also produced in our La Mare Kitchen.
Chocolate
Our chocolatier produces a range of luxury handmade truffles and chocolate as well as chocolate bars and seasonal goodies.
Estate Shop
Why not take home a selection of hand-made "Genuine Jersey" products?As well as a range of award-winning wines, La Mare Estate produces scrumptious Apple Brandy and liqueurs, mouth-watering fudges, luxury chocolates and delicious preserves such as our award winning Jersey Black Butter, perfect over ice cream or simply spread over toast. Tim Crowley, Estate Director, said "we believe everything in our production is the best around. We are passionate about quality at La Mare and combine our savoir-faire with Jersey natural ingredients. But don't take my words for it; our black butter and cider mustard have been awarded respectively 2 and 1 gold star from Great Taste Awards 2008". The shop is filled up with the delicious goods from the estate production and you'll also find a great selection of gifts.
Picnic
The Vineyard Restaurant will be happy to make up picnic baskets so you and your family or guests can wander out into the grounds and find the perfect spot within the vineyard and orchard to spend time relaxing whilst enjoying a fabulous meal. To book please call 01534 484536.
